The Vermidium are a group of Nurgle-worshiping worlds that lie in the Phantax Sector of the Ultima Segmentum.[1]
History
Vermidium is favored by the Death Guard as a local base of operations and the vectorium known as the Venomariners in particular are known to utilize it. It is here that the warband draws many of its slaves and recruits as well as trades with what it has taken in raids. Other Plague Fleet Captains are known to favor the world, and since the opening of the Great Rift it has prospered into a den of disease and viral generation. Conflicts have broken out between the various Death Guard vectoriums on the planet, leading to the Deathshroud to quash the division on Mortarion's orders.[2]
However the worlds have recently been invaded by the Tyranid Hive Fleet Scitalis. However before the Tyranids of Scitalis could reach Vermidium, the Death Guard's 6th Plague Company appeared and attacked the Hive Fleet. They have since launched strikes against Scitalis' Synapse beasts and have caused the Hive Fleet's advance to slow and scatter across a dozen systems.[1] This only slowed the xenos, who were able to eventually land on the worlds and the Death Guard has become determined to drive them back. Tyranid armies have been liquidized and brewed into obscenely strong toxins, benefiting the Death Guard despite their losses. These maladies have been hoarded by the Venomariners in defiance of Mortarion's orders.[2]
