Corporal Voeder Lenck was a non-commissioned officer of the Cadian Shock Troops, and the commander of a Leman Russ Exterminator tank during Operation Thunderstorm on Golgotha.

Biography

Aged twenty-eight at the time of Operation Thunderstorm, Lenck was handsome, dashing, and a rogue, more of a "gang boss" than a soldier, a type found all too often hiding beneath an Imperial Guard uniform. He had acquired an evil reputation back on Cadia, and continued to run his various scams and cons after joining the expedition force.

His tank crew looked up to him and counted on him to garner them extra rations and illicit goods, and help them avoid their more onerous duties, such as labor details. Like many successful rogues, Lenck always knew exactly how to appear on his official record and in front of officers and commissars.

During the expedition, the only soldier who failed to warm to him was Sergeant Oskar Wulfe, who recognized Lenck's type, even as Lenck treated him with all respect in public, even saving his tank's life in combat with orks, with a single well-aimed shot from his Exterminator.

Lenck was annoyed by Wulfe's obvious suspicion, and eavesdropped on Wulfe and several of his crew, eventually learning that Wulfe was suffering hallucinations of comrades he had lost on Palmeros. Lenck needled Wulfe with a veiled reference to these hallucinations, which rattled Wulfe.

After the final battle with the orks, and as the Expedition was preparing to depart Golgotha, Lenck ambushed Wulfe alone on the battlefield, while the Sergeant was saying his goodbyes to lost friends. Lenck was faster and trickier, but Wulfe gained the upper hand by stabbing Lenck's arm with the tusk of a Nob Wulfe had killed. Pinned, Lenck begged for his life, but Wulfe said he couldn't kill a fellow Cadian, even a piece of scum like Lenck - both their lives belonged only to the Emperor. Wulfe did, however, smash Lenck's face with his elbow, permanently disfiguring his once-handsome looks.

Wulfe then dumped Lenck's unconscious form at the feet of his stunned crew, asking if any of them wished to avenge their fallen "boss." No one did. Instead, the crew gathered up Lenck and departed with the rest of the expedition force.
