Xana was a Forge World of the Imperium.[1c] It was the 2nd planet of the Xana System, leading it to also be referred to as Xana II. Its connection to the subsequent Daemonic Forge World of Xana II is still unclear.[Needs Citation]

History

Before the Great Crusade, the world was rumored by Rogue Traders to have a machine empire with cyborg overlords and relics of the Dark Age of Technology. Whatever the truth, in 843.M30 the planet was accidentally discovered by the Rogue Trader Casilida DeAniasie. Negotiations between Mars and Xana began to absorb the latter into the Mechanicum. However many Imperial commanders were suspicious of Xana, not believing their claim that they had never established any contact with the Imperium due to their massive levels of stocks and technology. This led to the "Xana Paradox". Ultimately, Xana was allowed to maintain its sovereignty if it armed the Great Crusade. Its Titan Legions, the Legio Vulturum and the Legio Kydianos soon joined the Crusade in earnest.[1a] During the First Rangdan Xenocide Imperial forces rallied at Xana to turn back the Rangda tide.[2]

During the Horus Heresy, the world allied itself with Horus but was subjected to a clandestine Imperial Raid to sabotage their attempts to aid the Warmaster.[1c] In the aftermath of the disastrous raid, the disgraced Magos Anacharis Scoria emerged as the most powerful figure, establishing the worlds first Hell Forges.[1b]

Presumably, the Tech-Priests of Xana were ultimately forced to flee into the Eye of Terror, where they established the Daemonic forge of Xana II. It's also possible that the original Xana II, the forge world in Xana's System, was somehow moved to the Eye.[1c]

Xana-Tisiphone

Xana II was orbited by Xana-Tisiphone, an experimental station and penitentiary colony that had been artificially transplanted from its previous position as Xana V. Its weapons facilities were capable of constructing Ordinatus Ulator macro-engines, and the Sheaol penitentiary facility was used to imprison Anacharis Scoria and his Battle-Automata before their escape.[1a][1b]
