The Orks approach and Chaplain Clausel gives a final sermon to rally the PDF's spirits and morale. The Orks then commence their assault managing to get ; some ladders up onto escalade the wallswith ladders, whilst while the Gargant destroys the main doors gate of the citywalls, creating a breach. The Gargant draws close to the tops of the battlements, spraying machine gun fire on onto the defenders. To create additional havoc, an Ork [[Mad Dok]] creates a [[warp rift]] that discharges a swarm of [[Gretchins]] onto the battlements to harass the defendersPDF.  Learchus and Clausel then lead a squad an [[Assault Squad]] onto the to top of Gargant, infiltrating the Gargant machine and proceed to infiltrate, planting explosives and retreatng. They leap onto That job done, the squad leaps to the roof of a nearby building, however but before Learchus can leap , the Ork [[Warboss]] appears and challenges Learchus to a duel. The Warboss is almost too strong and too fast for Learchus has trouble and , who is about to be felled crushed under the Warboss' hammer, before Clausel intervenes, blocking the death blow with his [[Crozius Arcanum|Crozius]]. Together they defeat the Warboss and throw his body off the Gargant into the teeming Ork hordes below. They then proceed jump to strike forth from safety just as the cityexplosives detonate, with destroying the Gargant destroyed and slaughter . With the retreating Orks whilst Gargant's anti-aircraft weapons gone, the Ultramarines' Thunderhawks fly in and strafe the horde. With the battle said The Ultramarines and donePDF rally in a final push, and the Orks are routed. Learchus informs Gallow that he and the PDF can hunt the survivors, whereupon the 4th takes their leave and returns of Espandor. One of the company's battle-brothers congratulates Learchus, saying he has earned his captaincy beyond all doubt. On returning to Macragge. , however, Lord Calgar greets them upon arrivalin person, whereupon he informs Learchus that there have been developments during their deployment. Learchus is puzzled by this and asks why, only to be informed informing them that his Captain, Uriel Ventris has returned from his [[Death Oath]].
