An Acolyte of Abraxas are groups of Hereteks that derive their teachings from the practices of Magos Decius Abraxas who sought to learn the technological secrets of Xeno races.[1a]

History

These individuals, like their founder, believe that the greatest secrets of the Omnissiah lie beyond the Calyx Expanse with proof of their beliefs being seen within the psycho-technology used by alien races such as the Yu'vath. Such disciples thus defy the ban on xeno technology placed on them by the Adeptus Mechanicus and seek to unlock the psychic potential within artefacts of dead Xeno empires. Magos Abraxas spent a century exploring unknown space for relics that resonated with psychic power and he along with his disciples conducted blasphemous acts of fusing their bodies as well as those of Machine Spirits xenos devices. Some reports from the Imperium indicate that Acolytes of Abraxas have managed to channel the psychic energies of these xeno relics through dormant parts of their minds and thus have manifested powers akin to those of powerful Psykers.[1a]

Whilst their master Magos Abraxas disappeared into the Rifts of Hecaton seven decades ago, his students continue his work and are known to wander the Expanse. These Explorators seek out legends and ancient star charts in order to track down xeno artefacts that have ties to the Warp. This has led them to travels into the dead maze cities of the Egarian Dominion to the lost outposts of the Yu’Vath and Eldar as well as the caravans of the Stryxis. Such expeditions are done so to complete their founders work to unlock the secrets of the Omnissiah which they believe await those ready to claim them.[1a]

Background

Those that subscribe to Magos Abraxas’s teachings are a rare breed as few believe that the techno-sorcery of xeno races can bring them closer to the Omnissiah and those that do are eliminated for their heresy. Among those that live are known to wander the Koronus Expanse who share their knowledge with the uninitiated with this being especially the case where they might gain a psychic xeno relic. These artefacts are believed to contain secrets from the Omnissiah who hid them within xeno technology and thus an Acolyte of Abraxas integrates them into their own bionics which are keyed to their psychic abilities. However, such acts draw the ire of the not only the Adeptus Mechanicus but the Inquisition itself. To the Mechanicus, the teachings of Abraxas are the height of heresy and it is for this reason that the Lords Dragon of the Lathe Worlds keep a vigilant watch for such hereteks that roam the Expanse. However, the limits of their power does allow an Acolyte to survive in the depths of space where they continue their desperate mission to come closer to the Omnissiah through alien technology regardless of any danger associated with such a practice.[1b]
