The Black Reef is a region of the Jericho Reach.[1]
Located at the extreme edge of the Canis Salient towards the coreward rim of the Sector, it has for decades been a natural shield for the T'au Empire against the Achilus Crusade. The Reef is impassable for Warp Engine-equipped ships due to immaterial disturbances, forcing vessels to return to realspace. A number of ancient civilizations and relics are at the core of the reef, something that has attracted both T'au and Human explorers.[1]
