Impressed by the people's strength of faith and hardy nature, the Talons requested to take the planet as their home, and subjugate the populace as their own. Their request being granted, the Black Talons collected the settlers from the various smaller outposts that had been established and relocated to the Tomb Hills, and constructed their impressive fortress and it's defenses with remarkable speed, finishing the outer defenced in under 8 years, and completing the entire complex (above and underground) within 3 decades.

Background

Housed on the Death World of Hyperion in the Ultima Segmentum, the Black Talons have found the inhospitable climate much to their liking. The few human colonies on the planet have flocked to the unnamed Fortress-Monastery of their resident defenders deep in what they call the Tomb Hills. Despite the misleading name of their stronghold in the eastern reaches of Hyperion's southern landmass, the Black Talons have fortified the many-miles high mountiain and extensive cave networks with embedded defenses reaching far into the lowlands surrounding both the settlements as well as their monastery deep in the mountain's core.

Attempting to besiege the Black Talon stronghold would allow the defenders a few fleeting glimpses of the extensive trench network leading up to the first of the many mighty bulwarks which keep both the hostile native life of Hyperion, as well as the unusual weather patterns that plague the Tomb Hills.

History

Despite the remarkable strides they have taken to secure their world for the Emperor, the Black Talons are constantly short-handed from the constant migration of Hyperion's native, carniverous fauna.

First arriving on Hyperion tracking down an expedition by a group of settlers that had been infiltrated by agents of Chaos looking to establish a planet-fortress for their Daemon Prince, Markaenus. Finding the largest settlement on the planet's southern pole, the Talons very nearly assaulted the complex, only halting their attack once they found the corpses of the cultists staked outside of the settlement. Impressed by the people's strength of faith and hardy nature, the Talons requested to take the planet as their home, and subjugate the populace as their own. Their request being granted, the Black Talons collected the settlers from the various smaller outposts that had been established and relocated to the Tomb Hills, and constructed their impressive fortress and it's defenses with remarkable speed, finishing the outer defences in under 8 years, and completing the entire complex (above and underground) within 3 decades.
