Brey Auerben was a Captain in the Tenth Jovani Vanguard Regiment, who took part in the Sabbat Worlds Crusade.[1a]

History

During the Crusade, she was nearly killed on Morlond after being struck by a pyrochemical blast. Though Auerben survived, the skin on the Captain face was left gnarled from her neck to her cheekbone. She also served in the Collegia Tactica of the Sabbat Worlds Crusade's Warmaster Macaroth. This led Auerben to be seconded to the reincarnated Imperial Saint Sabbat's retinue, as her tactical advisor, when the Warmaster and Saint's forces converged on Urdesh. As the Crusade began to reclaim the Forge World from the Sons of Sek, however, Macaroth eventually turned Saint Sabbat into a figurehead. The Saint was then kept away in a secret location, but it was discovered by the Sons of Sek. The Heretics then attempted to kill her, but they were stopped by the Iron Snakes Chapter, before they reached the Saint. The attack, though, resulted in Imperials being killed and this quickly spurred Saint Sabbat into taking a more direct role in the battles against the Sons. Auerben and Saint Sabbat's military attache, Colonel Iovin Mazho, both attempted to dissuade her from this, but the Saint refused and was committed to fighting once again.[1b]
