Bucephalon is a planet of the Sabbat Worlds Cluster.[1]
Contents
History
Regarded as one of the most honourable of the Sabbat Worlds, when the Chaos hordes spilling from the Sanguinary Worlds invaded the Cluster, Bucephalon fell under the control of the demagogue Nokad the Blighted, who rose to power from within the planet's society. At the outset of the Sabbat Worlds Crusade, Warmaster Slaydo himself said that Bucephalon was one of the worlds he was most looking forward to liberating, although he would die on Balhaut before this could be achieved.[1]
Eventually, the Crusade came to liberate Bucephalon. While the bulk of the Imperial forces laid siege to Nokad's Doctrinopolis, the Tanith First and Only regiment was given the mission to assassinate Nokad. Two companies, led by Colonel Corbec and Major Rawne infiltrated through the city's ancient aqueduct network. Unfortunately, Nokad had anticipated this and had reinforced the area, leading to a bloody melee between the Tanith and Nokad's disciples. In the confusion, the Tanith sniper Hlaine Larkin got separated from his unit, somehow finding his way to a point which overlooked the aqueduct, finding Nokad himself leading his troops from the front. From his vantage point, Larkin shot Nokad in the head, effectively bringing the battle for the city to a close.[1]
