Calth Strain Epsilon[2]

Calth Strain Epsilon is a Tyranid Splinter Fleet, composed of surviving organisms from Hive Fleet Behemoth's destruction during the First Tyrannic War.[1]

Description

Notably Epsilon's Tyranids have distinctive carapace markings on their backs. Many Astra Militarum Guardsmen who have fought the Splinter Fleet, claim these markings take on the shape of the viewer's worst nightmare.[2]

History

The Imperium has theorized, that Epsilon became active decades after the Battle for Macragge. This occurred when Old One Eye escaped from Calth's ice and in doing so, drew hidden Behemoth Tyranids to itself. The continued viability of the Splinter Fleet, centuries after the destruction of Behemoth, and in such apparent isolation from any larger group of Tyranid organisms, is a source of great concern for Magos Biologis. It fuels fears that, although Old One Eye has yet to be seen amongst Epsilon's hordes, the Carnifex might still be alive. Currently, Calth Strain Epsilon has invaded Kavardia in significant numbers, where they have repeatedly clashed with the Space Wolves fighting on the world. This has worried some in the Imperium, who fear the Splinter Fleet has developed a taste for the Chapter's Canis Helix.[1]
