Nitro-Chem Inhalers are used by some undisciplined Imperial Guard units.¹ They have altered the gases in their rebreathers to include narcotics such as 'slaught and Kalma. The effect is to make them more indifferent to danger and loss, sometimes turning themselves into frenzied killers with no regard for their own lives.
