Cover Description
For a select few amongst the First Legion, the Northwilds of Caliban hold a particularly dark secret. At the command of Luther himself, young Librarian Zahariel accompanies the Lord Cypher on one of his mysterious forays into the unknown depths. But an ancient evil is stirring once more and, with rumours of galactic civil war creeping back to their home world, it may have already sunken its claws into the Dark Angels Legion...[2]
Story
Zahariel is ordered by Luther to accompany Cypher to the Northwilds Arcology, and it triggers memories to an earlier incident that took place there. Looking around, he sees a sign of recent digging, and the two discuss the nature of those present, and Zahariel wishes to press deeper. Cypher questions why Luther was interested in the location, and Zahariel replies that Luther wishes to expand the legionary facilities for newer recruits.[1]
Traveling deeper, Zahariel begins to feel something unknown but that he felt before, and they come upon more excavation. The deeper they went, the more it began to smell but there was no source, which affected Zahariel but not Cypher. This causes Zahariel to call for him to wait, and a breeze coming up through the depths caused Zahariel to be filled with dread. Cypher also became panicked and began to flee from the area, and Zahariel said it was merely "ghosts of the past." Zahariel continued, needing to complete his mission, However, Cypher leaves Zahariel behind and takes a craft back. Zahariel is left with many questions about the nature of the area, of Cypher, and the Ouroboros that was returning.[1]
