Eternal Crusade is expected to be a Third Person MMORPG PVP title out on PC and console. It is being developed by Montreal based studio Behviour Interactive. The game is currently, as of 2014.06.29, in the early stages of production. The official website holds vast amounts of information from production plans to game details to extensive forum topics where the development team is actively responding to fan requests, ideas, and questions. Their YouTube channel 'Warhammer 40,000 Eternal Crusade' currently has 19 videos ranging from introductions of the development teams to early gameplay videos. In addition to the preceding official pages they also have Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and Instagram accounts that can be accessed via the official webpage linked below. The game is fully funded with the ability for players to become 'Founders' by pre-purchasing options to boost their character equipment, profile customization, and in game spending abilities.[1]

Currently in game there are to be four playable factions: Space Marines, Chaos Space Marines, Eldar, and Orks. The Tyranids are also currently a NPC (Non-playable character) faction in the game. Gameplay is expected to be an open and persistent world, with PVP and solo gameplay options. Combat is planned for both melee and ranged combat, with the ability to use certain support vehicles, such as attack bikes, transports, and tanks. There is also expected to be non-PVP missions that can be taken in the attempt to acquire mission critical items or information. All action is believed to be taken on or in orbit of the fifth planet Arkhona, of the Kharon System, located in the galactic northern marches of Segmentum Obscurus.[1]

Character customization is expected to be very personal with the ability to earn hundreds of weapons and accessories that span the 40k universe. Additional classes, factions, weapons, and accessories are expected to be released both prior to launch and during the titles lifespan.[1]

Plot

Currently there is limited information on the actual plot and story of the game but it is being written by author Graham McNeill who is to be joined by Narrative Designer 'Ivan Mulkeen' in developing the story behind the planet and the various factions involved. Currently there is a short story that appears to set the scene and detail the initial deployment of the future factions.[1]

According to the short story 'Space Marines, Descent on Arkhona' by Mr. McNeill, there are Space Marines battling a Tyranid horde in defense of an inter-chapter communication outpost. Tasked with aiding in the outpost's defense Ultramarines Sergeant Castor leads a number of squads to the planet by Drop Pod. After slaying the nearby enemy the two commanding Sergeants meet at the outpost front gates.[1]

There is also word of the Dark Angels committing a great deal of resources toward the planet in the attempts of capturing a high value traitor marine that is planetside. Whether he is of The Fallen or not is yet to be confirmed.[2]
