Exyrion is a daemon-infested Dead World in the Calaphrax Cluster, cut off from the Imperium since the days of the Horus Heresy.[1]

Exyrion was once a Hive World, and the site of a battle between the Dark Angels and Iron Warriors during the Horus Heresy. At the end of the battle, almost all life on Exyrion was wiped out when the Iron Warriors activated a weapon of such cataclysmic power that it ended a million lives in a single stroke, the resultant psychic howl causing a warp-storm to tear across the Calaphrax Cluster and cutting it off from the Imperium for ten millennia.[1b] A few survivors remained in the extensive underground warrens of the Hives, drawing power from the weapon used by the Iron Warriors.[1c]

When the Dark Angels returned in M41, they found the surface infested with daemons.[1a] Clearing a passage into the underground regions, they encountered a colony of survivors that had endured ten millennia in isolation. The Chaos Lord Korus launched an asteroid at the planet's surface to crack open the hive and uncover its secrets.[1b] The Dark Angels and Iron Warriors both landed their forces, replaying the battle from the Horus Heresy in the Second Battle of Exyrion.[1c]

Exyrion is orbited by two moons[1a] and an orbital observation platform.[1b]
