The Grey Knights Redeemer Force was a formation of Grey Knights that can be called upon by the Inquisition.
Overview
The legendary Redeemer Forces were only dispatched when a sizeable Warp rift had formed in realspace. This was only the case when a threat was so great that it could consume a planet. It was only in these cases when the Grey Knights were summoned to banish the mightiest of Daemon's back to the Empyrean. Their efforts were required to close the rift and re-establish the reality of both order and reason.
When the forces of Chaos were sent to desecrate Holy sites and blight them, then a Redeemer Force was sent to reconsecrate it with sacred incense and pious litany. It was only through these items would the rift to the daemonic realms be sealed. It was they who were required to fight the daemons personally and exterminating their presence in the mortal world. Once this was accomplished, they embarked on rituals that purified the land of filth and corruption of the daemonic taint.
The completion of this task was not the only mission from the Ordo Malleus as their further duties included silencing or mindwiping any other witnesses to the act as part of their pact with the Inquisitors. This was because no one was allowed to remember such acts as the seed of corruption would remain in Human minds making it impossible to remove. Such an act was the ultimate price the Redeemers offered for death was the only redemption they gave to those who suffered from the predations of Chaos.
One of the tools within their arsenal included the Hexagrammatic Ritual of Reconsecration.
