Haxan the Defiler was a former Captain of the Crimson Fists Chapter and then leader of a Red Corsairs warband.[1]

Overview

Haxan the Defiler was known under the name of Captain Isidor Montes while serving in the Crimson Fists. As a Crimson Fist Captain, he led half a company of their warriors to suppress a alleged uprising on Hydra Secundus. What occurred there is unclear with the Inquisition claiming that Montes turned traitor and killed his own warriors and Montes himself claiming that the Inquisitor Matthias Rabe had declared exterminatus on an innocent planet to hide his own crimes. Montes claimed that witnessing this crime is what caused him to turn away from the Imperium after killing Rabe.[1]

Haxan the Defiler as he was known after this event, used the infamy of the event to become a member of the Red Corsairs and begun fighting the Imperium. Within twenty years, he had earned a warship and were striking at shrines across the Serpentis Reach. By 921.M41 he was the leader of a warband with a small fleet, using the Serpentis Reach as a base to raid deep into the Loki Sector.[1]

Haxan the Defiler met his end as Matthias Rabe's pupil, Inquisitor Anatol Volk set up a trap using the Grand Cruiser Duchess Hespara as bait and using a squad of Crimson Fists, led by Sergeant Sandor Galleas to try and capture the heretic. Galleas refused to let the former Captain be taken by the Inquisition and instead executed him on the bridge of Duchess Hespara.[1]
