Imperialis Armada
From Warhammer 40k - Lexicanum
Revision as of 11:27, 29 January 2020 by InquisitorRozenberg (talk | contribs) (→Ship Classes of the Imperial Armada)
The Imperialis Armada was the predecessor to the Imperial Navy. Existing since the dawn of the Imperium, it was a sub-branch of the Imperial Army and dedicated to the defense of Imperial space as opposed to the fleets of the Legiones Astartes that were designed around planetary assault.[1]
After the Horus Heresy, the Imperium decided to break up the Imperial Army's fleet component in an attempt to weaken any future potential rebellions, turning the Imperial Armada into the fully independent Imperial Navy.[2]
