Terrain

Jago's terrain is mostly flat desert with massive mountain ranges dividing the planet. Trenches, partially filled in by millennium of dust storms, cover the landscape. Barracks, trenches, pillboxes and fortifications, far too large to have ever been built by Humans or any of the known xenos, pattern the entire planet, towering far above and far below the surface.[Needs Citation]

History

During the battle to retake the planet, commanded by General Van Voytz, the Tanith First and Only regiment, led by Colonel-Commissar Gaunt, moved to cover the flank of the offensive force by capturing and defending Hinzerhaus.[Needs Citation]

Hinzerhaus - is an ancient fortress[1] built into the side of a mountain,[Needs Citation] long before the Imperium, possibly before the dawn of the human species.[1] The fortress is heavily fortified, with sixteen defensive layers of gunboxes and numerous overwatch towers.[Needs Citation] The Hinzerhaus was repeatedly haunted by some mysterious "spirits", which the Astra Militarum forces defended this site, were said to cause anxiety and sometimes even lead to the mysterious disappearance of soldiers. Therefore, among the warriors of the Imperial Guard this fortress was also called as 'the House at the End of the World'.[1]

Almost half of the Tanith were lost in the battle, and at one point Gaunt was deemed lost as well.[Needs Citation]
