Long Fangs in action

The Long Fangs take the role usually performed by Devastator Squads within the Space Wolves Chapter.

They consist of the older members of a pack, wise in their years, and long in the fang (hence the name, long fangs). It is left to them normally to discern where their heavy weapons fire is most needed, and the squad can split it's fire power between two targets. This allows the player to use one squad to similatiously knock out tanks, and provide covering fire for his other troops. One squad takes up a heavy support choice, and consists of 2 to 5 long fangs and a pack leader.

Long Fangs pack markings on the right shoulder pad, are in black and white.

Predator Annihilator

Main article: Predator

The Predator Annhilator is an invention of the Long Fangs.

The origin of the Annihilator was borne out of necessity, during the Skarath Crusade in M36. A Space Wolves Great Company found themselves surrounded by Traitor Legion forces, unable to bring their Lascannons to bear on superior numbers of tanks and Chaos Dreadnoughts, not without suffering considerable damage from the hail of fire the enemy was able to lay down. To counter this, the Long Fangs and Iron Priests ripped the Autocannons out of their Predator tanks, and replaced them with the Long Fang's Lascannons. The protection afforded to them by the tanks' armoured hulls enabled the Long Fangs to get within range of the enemy armour, and to eventually destroy them.1a

The Adeptus Mechanicus was dismayed that their precious STC tanks had been modified, but has since approved of the modifications1b, and other chapters started following suit not long after, retro-fitting some of their Predator Destructors' armament with Lascannons. Thus the Annihilator variant had come to pass, and it continues to serve as the main Space Marine anti-vehicle tank.
