Master of the Astronomican
The Master of the Astronomican is the leader of the Adeptus Astronomica and the chief overseer of the Astronomican, the psychic beacon that allows for Imperial Warp travel. Residing in the Forbidden Fortress on Terra, the Master oversees the Adeptus Astronomica's close relations with the Adeptus Astra Telepathica and the daily sacrifices of psykers to the Emperor which are required to maintain the Astronomican. Because of his duties, the Master of the Astronomican is said to be one of the most powerful psykers in the Imperium.[2]
Because of the vital importance the Astronomican represents to the Imperium, its Master is a permanent member of the High Lords of Terra.[1]
