Missile Launchers are powerful explosive firing weapons. The missile fired is guided towards its target by the user, and as such is much more accurate than the Grenade Launcher.

With the improved targetting, the missile can have a heavier explosive charge inside, leading to a bigger bang. This makes it a stronger weapon than the greande launcher, but it is also a lot heavier and more expensive. It tends to be used by Imperial armies, such as the Imperial Guard and Space Marines.

The missile fired has two options, either a Frag (fragmentation) missile, or a Krak missile. The frag missile has a small blast area to damage many enemies in one shot, but is not as powerful as the krak missile. The krak missile is more designed for taking out armoured vehicles and charactors with strong armour. It is not useful for killing horde armies such as Orks.

Missile Launchers are not normally mounted on vehicles, the exception being the Space Marine Whirlwind, which is, in principle, many missile launchers strapped together, firing in large salvoes.

Many Imperial Guard armies, such as the Tallarn Desert Raiders, make use of Missile Launchers due to their ability to fight different troop types.

The Eldar also make use of Missile Launchers, although they replace the Frag round with a Plasma round, giving it a much better ability to defeat armour.
