The Monsk Conspiracy was an event that occurred in late M40.[1]

Overview

In M40, the Forge World of Monsk was given authorisation to attempt construction of a new pattern of Imperial starship for use by the Navy. Over the course of generations, the tech-adepts of Monsk laboured, piecing together thousands of components while constantly cross referencing the archives of Sacred Mars. Eventually the prototype ship was completed and the plans were due to be sent to the Fabricator-General of Mars for approval.[1]

However, the plans never reached Mars and all known copies were destroyed, perhaps stolen. Consequently the new ship pattern never entered production. What exactly happened to the plans was never discovered - some suspect a traitorous sub-cult or a disaffected Magos who feared that the rulers of Monsk would not allow the new design to be used to its full potential.[1]

Several years later, the Imperial Navy recorded a new configuration of Chaos vessel active in the Damocles Sector not far from Monsk. These vessels, which the Navy designated the Infidel-class Raider, bore striking similarities to the new ship pattern constructed at Monsk. The Infidel raider continues to plague Imperial territories to this day.[1]
