Nova Thulium is an Imperium Agri World and is part of the stellar Realm of Ultramar.[3]
Overview
Nova Thulium works under a noble system led by the House of Calgar. It is an important Agri-World of Ultramar, providing the vast majority of food for the rest of the Macragge System. However, due to the demands of the neighboring Hive World of Ardium, malnutrition is common. This proves to be a secondary concern due to the endemic lung diseases suffered by the workers. A productive life beyond 40 years old is said to be likely and the dead are used as supplements to agricultural fertilizers.[4]
History
During the 13th Black Crusade, Nova Thulium was one of the many worlds of Ultramar that were invaded by the Chaos forces of Abaddon the Despoiler.[1] Though they were eventually defeated by forces under Marneus Calgar, the world and its moons were devastated.[4]
When an Ork horde invaded Ultramar's eastern flank, sometime after the Great Rift's creation, Nova Thulium served as a key asset to feeding the worlds that were invaded by the Xenos. This nearly ended though, when the Orks of Warboss Guttrekk invaded the Agri World and easily crushed its PDF. The few survivors fled to Nova Thulium's capital city, which soon came under attack by the Orks and would have fallen were it not for the arrival of an Ultramarines strike force. Led by Lieutenant Calsius, the strike force soon began to push the Orks back and it was due to his leadership that the Ultramarines were able to purge Nova Thulium of the Xenos. This became the turning point of the invasion, as the Agri World's food supplies were now able to flow freely throughout the Realm of Ultramar and allowed the Imperium's forces to defeat the Ork horde.[2]
Other Information
Nova Thulium has two moons, Thulium Major and Thulium Minor. The latter is an inhospitable world full of beasts such as Ambulls and is used to train Aspirants for the Ultramarines.[4]
