Operation Stormfrost was a Great Hunt of the Space Wolves Chapter, which led to the cleansing of the neighboring Systems K'Dar, K'Fir and Takaran.[1]

History

Among the battles fought during the Great Hunt was an assault upon the Magnavox Ultima fortress of the World Eaters Chaos Lord Ghordane the Torturer. The Great Company of the Wolf Lord Skaldir Ironfang served with particular distinction during the final ten days of the legendary assault and are credited with both its destruction and with Ghordane's death. Two of Ironfang's warriors are noted to have served with distinction in the battle with the Chaos Lord's forces.[1]

The first was the Longfang Egnar, who held the breach in the north wall of Ghordane's fortress alone against the attacking World Eaters. He was able to slaughter all those who stood in his way, until the weight of their dead bodies eventually rendered Egnar immobile. However the Longfang's heroic actions led to the fall of the fortress' Tower of Souls, which was the real turning point of the battle for the Space Wolves. The second warrior was the Pack Leader Wulfric, whose squadron teleported directly into the Chaos Lord's command bunker. In their ensuing attack, Wulfric's squadron was able to slaughter fifty World Eaters and completely dismantle the fortress' defensive command structure, before they were slain. The Pack Leader was later posthumously commended for his actions, after the Space Wolves were victorious. Ghordane was also killed in the battle and the Wolf Lord Ironfang later returned to Fenris with the Chaos Lord's head and placed it in the shrine of the Great Wolf Harek Ironhelm.[1]
