Ostian Delafour was a remembrancer in the 28th Exploratory Fleet under the command of the primarch Fulgrim.

History

Ostian was a Terran-born sculptor whose talent and creations brought him to Fulgrim's attention. Ostian would lose himself in work, neglecting interpersonal relationships and even his own needs in pursuit of his art. He was selected to join the 28th Expedition Fleet and was excited to see the worlds he had never seen before. Ostian stayed apart from his fellow remembrancers except for Serena d'Angelus. He enjoyed her company and she was the only true friend he had; he even went so far as to say he was in love with her. Ostian's talents found Fulgrim coming to him to critique his own sculptures. Ostian could not find any flaws in his recreations of his Legion's captains save that they were, in his opinion, too perfect: the errors of a work actually brought those pieces to life. Fulgrim left in a huff, his pride wounded, and swearing off sculpture.[Needs Citation]

Ostian rebuked the advances of Bequa Kynska by saying Serena d'Angelus was his lover. She used her influence to remove him from the landing parties to study Laeran following the cleansing. This unwittingly saved him from the corruption of Slaanesh in the Laer's central temple. His fellow remembrancers were not so lucky, especially Serena. While in orbit of Tarsus, Ostian found her disheveled and covered in self-inflicted wounds, completely at odds with the organized Serena he remembered. When she dismissed her own talents, Ostian rebuked her, admitting that his own genius didn't come as easily as a sunrise, and then left in anger[1a]. Ostian's final and greatest piece was a sculpture of the Emperor. He did not finish it until the Pride of the Emperor had reached Isstvan V. Fulgrim entered his studio unannounced and decried the Emperor, declared that Horus would rule the galaxy, and killed Ostian by impaling him through the sculpture on the anathame. Fulgrim then declared the work perfect[1b].
