Targetdrone.gif This article is about the Planet; for the other uses of the word Paragon, see Paragon (disambiguation).

Paragon may refer to the homeworld of the Emperor's Hands Space Marine Chapter.[1]

Paragon may also refer to the Segmentum Tempestus (Possibly Segmentum Pacificus, source unclear) Industrial World, Paragon, which is home to the Paragonian Imperial Guard regiments.[2][3]

Paragon (Tempestus/Pacificus) is the sixth moon of the systems sixth planet, Mater Maxima, a gas giant.[2] It has a strange set of seasons, as a result. The moon has a long orbit, and spends a great deal of time hidden from the sun. This is referred to as the 'Long Winter'. This is followed by the 'Glory Seasons'; Growth, Little Summer, Second Growth, Little Fall, Little Winter. The 'Glory Seasons' all repeat twice before entering the 'Long Winter' again.

Paragon[2] is ruled by 150 Clans, each of which governs a specific industry, and whom regularly jockey for power, as well as industrial and economical advantage. Dueling is not uncommon, and governed by a strict code. Duelists must also be registered with the Arbites, and must earn permission to duel with 'sharps', by way of a display of skill. Paragonian nobles duel with unusual blades that are similar in function to a power sword, but without the power field. The blade is usually blunt, but carries a power supply and an activator switch. When triggered, this causes the molecules making up the blade to rearrange, transforming a formerly blunt blade into a mono-sword with the press of a button. Unauthorized and unregistered duels are strictly illegal.

The planet manufactures a variety of arms and vehicles for the Imperium, and is known for the proud tradition of its armoured regiments, including several Superheavy Tank Companies (though the world does not actually manufacture superheavy vehicles). To be promoted to the command of a Superheavy Tank is considered a great honour on Paragon, and such officers are given the appellation 'Honoured' to their rank. IE: A Lieutenant who is granted command of a Baneblade would become 'Honoured Lieutenant.'

Paragon[2] is unusual in that the Cult of the Machine God is as highly revered on the planet as Emperor of Mankind, and many Paragonians wear both a Cog Mechanicus and an Imperial Aquila. This is especially true among the planets armoured regiments, where the Paragonians work in close proximity with the Tech-Priests, and strongly rely on their vehicles.
