Praefex Venatoris is a Watch Fortress of the Deathwatch. The Praefex Venatoris keeps watch over a string of alien portals used by the Dark Eldar in Segmentum Obscurus. They are always on high alert, seeking to save the human worlds of Syracia Thrive from alien piracy.[1]
Since the formation of the Great Rift Praefex Venatoris has become trapped within the Imperium Nihilus and alongside Fort Excalibris is now the primary headquarters and training location for the Deathwatch in the region, replacing Talasa Prime.[2]
