Primarch's Scourge

The Primarch's Scourge was the name given to the brutal purges that began on Terra, after Lord Commander Guilliman attempted to destroy its corrupt population, in the wake of the Great Rift's creation.

The purge was to ensure that Terra served as a solid bastion from which Guilliman could launch his Indomitus Crusade from. With the full permission of the High Lords and with the aid of numerous Imperial forces, the Scourge struck Terra's Hives and led to the outbreak of a series of wars. What followed was the destruction of hundreds of both Xenos and Chaos Cults, as well as millions of heretics, mutants, and recidivists. This also led to a shocking number of corrupt officials, dilettante cult-magisters, and self-interested high acolytes, being culled from Terran high society. Though the Scourge caused significant collateral damage to the Imperium's Homeworld as well as murmurings of discontent, the Indomitus Crusade's fleets later went mainly uninterrupted by sabotage, sedition, or politicking.[1]

Four High Lords of Terra were removed. These were Master of the Administratum Irthu Haemotalion, Paternoval Envoy Uila Lamma, Speaker for the Chartist Captains Kania Dhanda, and Ecclesiarch Baldo Slyst. A fifth High Lord, Master of the Astronomican Leops Franck, was killed during the chaos of the Noctis Aeterna and replaced by Guilliman's own choice.[3] In addition, hundreds of lesser lords of the Senatorum Imperialis were removed.[2] One of the most high profile of these lesser victims was Horron Sch'est, the Consul Pre-eminus of the Navis Nobilite, who was publicly flogged on Guilliman's orders.[2]
