The '''Primarchs''' are the 20 superhuman individuals (18 of whom are known) created by the [[Emperor]] around the time of the [[Great Crusade]]. For unknown reasons, they were scattered from Terra throughout the galaxy, and as the Emperor led the Great Crusade, he was gradually reunited with his Primarchs. The Primarchs were the genetic basis of the Space Marines, and when they had been found, they were given command of their Space Marines. Together, the 20 primarchs and their Marines formed the [[First-founding Legions]].
