Ptera-squirrel
Ptera-squirrels (Skiouros vampyr) are small rodents widespread throughout the Imperium.[2] They are considered both a pet and a pest species.[1][2]

Overview
They are found across the length and breath of the Imperium, usually inhabiting forested regions.[2] They have thin membranes between their extremely long fore-limbs and rear-limbs. These membranes enable them to fly.[1]
They are famous for their cute furry appearance[1] and are very tame. Because of these traits they are sometimes kept as pets.[2]
However, through a process of accelerated evolution,[2] they sometimes mutate into a feral state in which they become blood-drinking carnivores.[1] Apparently Ptera-squirrels live as a harmless and peaceful animals only for some generation and then produce the abominations as next scions. It is not known exactly what prompts the change between the two forms.[1]
They are also considered a common pest throughout the Imperium.[1]
