Ramillies 268-43 (also known simply as Ramillies) is a world of the Sabbat Worlds Cluster.[1]

History

A number of Imperial units fought against the forces of Chaos on Ramillies as part of the Sabbat Worlds Crusade. The Chaos forces held four major strongholds on the planet, all of which were crushed by the Space Marines. After this, the Marines moved on to another warzone, leaving the task of clearing the scattered enemy that had fled the fortresses to the Astra Militarum.[1]

Among those that fought here was the Tanith First and Only Imperial Guard Regiment. Notably Scout-Sergeant Mkoll managed to bring down a Chaos Dreadnought almost single-handedly using an overloaded lasgun magazine and a number of the planet's deadly plant species.[1]

Geography

Ramillies featured a number of fern forests that grew in the ashy soil produced by a network of now-dormant volcanoes. The planet's atmosphere, at least in the forests, was so choked with dust that it could clog a lasgun within ten minutes.[1]

In addition to the white ferns and general underbrush, some of these forests contained thorny, cacti-like plants which could launch spines as a defence mechanism; not only were these capable of impaling a man, they also secreted a deadly toxin. This action was triggered by sound, which is how Mkoll killed the aforementioned Dreadnought - the overloading magazine breached its armour and spurred the nearby plants to launch their deadly volleys into the now-exposed flesh of the Chaos Space Marine within.[1]
