Semtexia is a Mining World of the Imperium, notable for raising Imperial Guard Regiments known as the Semtexian Bombardiers.[1]

History

Semtexia was originally a sparsely-populated Mining World of relatively little importance. Its greatest asset was the extraction of kultrinium ore, which was exported to the nearby Industrial World of Armageddon to be used in the manufacture of weapons.[1]

This changed in 941.M41, however, when the planet was called to start raising regiments for the Imperial Guard in response to the Second War for Armageddon. In recognition of the effectiveness of these hastily-deployed units (which became known as the Semtexian Bombardiers), the planet's population was bolstered by an influx of new miners. This, in turn, led to increased output and the discovery of new types of ore useful in the production of artillery.[1]

In addition, the planet now produces a type of explosive device known as a Semtexian Sink Mine. These mines are respected throughout the Imperium.[1]

Trivia

The names "Semtexia" and "Semtexian" are likely references to the plastic explosive Semtex.
