620 bytes removed, 01:37, 22 May 2020
*Removed unnecessary wordiness and made statements more direct and clear. *Changed tone of article to one of confidence in how the site is run (e.g. it's not 'unfortunate' that you restrict access from most editors,)
Every Each registered User of the Lexicanum is also an Editor as he/she has and given access to the tools at his/her disposal to edit pages, articles and files.
Is there a hierarchy of Editors?
Not all Some highly-trusted Editors have are granted access to the same range certain sets of technical tools available in the Lexicanum wiki. Unfortunately it is necessary to limit the access to certain powerful tools that are not needed in a daily context and used for the "normal" tasks involved in creating or article-creation and editing an article. The reason for this is simple: If unintentionally (or in some cases intentionally) used Access to these tools can be very destructive. So for obvious reasons it is not possible restricted to avoid potential misuse and damage - intentional or recommended unintentional - to grant generalized access to themthe wiki.
The "hierarchy" of access rights is therefore as follows (in ascending order):*Editors**AdministratorsBureaucrats(a.k.a. Super-Administrators) maintain the site itself and have the highest authority.***BureaucratsAdministrators (also known as Super-Administrators)moderate site content and resolve differences between editors.
This is a technical hierarchy. It does explicitly not mean that a "normal" Editor's voice The opinions and opinion is per se "worth less" than the one contributions of an Administrator or Bureaucratsregular editors are welcome and valued. We do try to listen to everybody and make decisions as transparent transparently as possible. However every Editor should also have no illusions that when push comes to shove in the end it is the Administrators and Bureaucrats who have the final say on issuesany given issue. The Lexicanum was never designed to function as a grassroots direct democracy. Rather, it's probably the best way to describe the Lexicanum is calling it described as a top-down Technocracy.
