History
Believed to be one of Autek Mor's first punitive campaigns againsts the traitors, the battle began when a ragged yet bellicose flotilla of warships led by the Red Talon rised from the depths of the Grail Abyss and fell upon Gethsamaine, which had declared for the Warmaster a year earlier. What followed was a brief, yet shockingly brutal assault in which the Iron Hands claimed key Traitor prisoners before destroying the world's major cities in all-consuming nuclear blasts that would render the entire world uninhabitable for generations to come.1
Description
Vraks has fallen. The Astra Militarum, to save the planet from the madness of an apostate preacher, mobilizes the troops of Krieg's Death Korps and embarks on a long, hopeless siege. The war will last seventeen years, cost millions of lives and attract the attention of heretics and demons, but the Death Korps must achieve victory at all costs. Centimeter by centimeter, in sweat and blood, the world is taken back from the enemy. It is on Vraks that the soldiers of Krieg forge their reputation as the most relentless fighters in the entire Imperium. It is on Vraks that an officer named Tyborc, who was preparing to die, learns how to live differently. It is on Vraks, finally, that Krieg's Death Korps reaches its limits.
Tyborc was the Astra Militarum Colonel of the Death Korps of Krieg's 261st Siege Regiment, when it took part in the Siege of Vraks.1
History
As the war raged in 830.M41, the 261st was part of the 88th Siege armys 30th line Korps and was charged with taking the citadel of Vraks' main gates. This was part of the Death Korps of Krieg's first wave of attack upon the structure, but the 261st was repelled and nearly destroyed by the Chaos forces that were defending the citadel. Colonel Tyborc was among the 261st's survivors, but they were now so few in number, that it could no longer function as a Regiment. They were instead folded into the 30th line Korps' three other Regiments (the 262nd, 263rd, and 269th), while Colonel Tyborc was promoted to a position on the army staff.1
History
Just prior to the outbreak of the Second War for Armageddon, the Reach of Judgement was under the command of Admiral Jakob Isakov. It was the lead ship of a fleet stationed in the Armageddon System when the system was beset by a great Warp Storm.1a

Due to warnings he had received from his allies on Armageddon of a potential Ork incursion, Isakov had the fleet proceed to the outskirts of the system, ready to defend it from the Orks that were believed to be on the way, or any other hostiles.1a However, what emerged from the Warp was not merely an Ork fleet, but one of the largest Space Hulks ever encountered in Imperial history - designated by the ship's servitors as the Alveus Alpha Alpha Sextus.1b

The entire fleet, including the Reach of Judgement, fired on the hulk but it was futile; due to its sheer size it was impossible for the fleet to destroy it or evade it. Isakov therefore gave the order for the surviving ships to fly directly at the hulk in a final act of defiance.1b Every ship in the fleet was destroyed and, despite the damage caused by the ships' reactors detonating on impact with the hulk, it continued on towards Armageddon itself.1b1c

Abomination – a heavily mutated creature kindred to Navis Nobilite, while technically a Navigator, and able to function as such, the few Navigator Abominations witnessed appeared to lack humanity, instead behaving as if mere beasts, and treated as such if not worse. The standing order of dealing with those creatures is a purge without mercy, as their existence is considered to be rife with pain and only supported by their captors.1

Overview
It was long speculated that after the onset of the Age of Strife some Navigators ended up stranded outside their Houses' ability to recover and still managed to survive and bore lineages unsupervised by Nobilite. For the longest time it served as an idle hypothesis which could irritate some of the greedier sort of Navigators with the possibility of rogue agents endangering their monopoly, and even worse serving heretics, xenos or chaos. However, the truth ended up horrifying them all, as it turned out that untold generations of rampant breeding cast the spawn of those survivors into the downward spiral of ever so progressing mutations, and mental degeneration.1

One such encountered individual was paradoxically recognizable as human by the main feature the Navigators differ from the common man, their pineal eye. It still was able to pierce the veil of reality, and when properly leashed and trained said Abomination came to serve its people, not as a guide among the stars, but as a beast of burden, helping them brave the storms of the Warp.1

After the investigations of a purported unsanctioned Navigator somehow assisting the forces of the pirate prince Jalthas Mettiere, the Abomination was discovered, of atrophied limbs, elongated worm-like body, with no mouth nor any recognizable human features, save for its warp eye. The creature was reported to be treated poorly among its people, not viewed as descending from humans, but as an animal or an organic tool, slaved to and merged with the ship systems, with various pipes bringing it sustenance and removing the waste. Such a pitiable existence, if even the creature still possessed any sentience, brought the ire of Calixis' Houses, placing a grand bounty on not only Mettiere's corpse, but on a destruction of his ship, although it is speculated to be a result of the damage the pirate prince has done to Navigators' business, instead for the empathy for the creature.1
The position of typhlotics within Navis Nobilite isn't well documented, beyond simple vague authorisation to remain within the particular House in an unknown capacity.1

The fanatics of Cyclopean Congregation, practice rigorous kidnappings of typhlotics from Renegade Houses converting them towards their peculiar clergy that is second only to the cult's inner circle and is responsible for communicating the interactions with their flock that the revered Navigators deem necessary. In line with the cult's beliefs, the eyes of the typhlotics are utterly removed, while in the middle of their foreheads where their kin possess a third eye a brand of stylized scarified swirl.1
Basquit was an Imperial Agri World located in the Armageddon Subsector.12

History
Shortly prior to the Second War for Armageddon, Basquit was invaded by an Ork horde. Imperial forces arrived to defend it, including the 252nd Armageddon Steel Legion (accompanied by Commissar Sebastian Yarrick); their efforts, however, were hampered by Overlord Albrecht Meinert, who insisted that the bulk of the Imperial forces should be used to defend the holdings of the planet's aristocracy.2

Not long afterwards, Meinert was overthrown and killed in a bloody coup led by Lord Berthold Stratz. Stratz had more military sense than Meinert, and freed Imperial forces from their defensive duties to take the fight to the Orks. The xenos were later defeated.2

Although many were satisfied by the Imperial victory on Basquit, Yarrick saw it as a terrible omen of things to come, noting that the Orks had penetrated extremely deep into a strategically crucial sub-sector far from any known Ork Worlds. This coincided with the emergence of a large Warp Storm that threatened to cut the Armageddon System off from the wider Imperium, and the fact that the Orks on Basquit continually chanted a name: Ghazghkull.2

Elutrian Confederacy – a faction within Navis Nobilite holding a fanatical fetishism of the role the Navigators fill within the Imperium and a distrust towards psykers, considering them an unnecessary risk towards humankind.1b

Overview
Elutrian Devotees glorify themselves as the Emperor's chosen guides, meant to lead the masses of humanity towards its purpose, taking their name from a High Gothic word for washing away impurities. Due to scores of years dedicated to fighting a specific cult of psykers, the Confederacy came to view psykers as a thread towards a future they were meant to lead humanity. Backed by Navigators' unparalleled knowledge of the warp, they see even the sanctioned psykers as inevitable catastrophes, fools pretending to master the Warp at constant risk of damnation of themselves and everyone around them.1b

Members of the Confederacy are known by their signature and devastating ability to use their third eye and Unbind Warp within a mind of the psyker or even a Daemon, unleashing the chaotic storm that burns its victim from inside.1c

While not confined to, the Confederacy is mainly known to consist of various houses within Calixis Sector and Koronus Expanse. Although inherently loyal to the Imperium, the Confederacy lost its major political power due to a disgrace of their leading house, House Typhon declared renegade by Paternova. In times since, many of the tracts penned by the devotees, specifying their beliefs, were proscribed by the Inquisition and condemned by Paternova.1b

History
In its nascency Confederacy enamoured varied houses with House Typhon's treating about knowing the true path towards perfection with their champions bringing back, by that time obscure and somehow forgotten, practice of Navigator Duels.1a

Their goals of guiding the Imperium brought them into a direct conflict with the Seekers of Daybreak, a cult founded several centuries earlier on Scintilla around the idea of psykers and chaos being the aim that the humanity has to take. During this time, Elutrian Confederacy acquired their current view of even the sanctioned psykers as inherently dangerous persons, fit only for extermination. Throughout the generations of bloody conflict, Navigators of the Confederacy developed techniques particularly designed to combat psykers.1b

Eventually Seekers were purged from Scintilla by the Ordo Calixis, however with the fall of House Typhon, Elutrian Devotees were forced to act in shadows of Calixis Sector, or more openly within the wilds of Koronus Expanse, to avoid the persecution by the Inquisition and wider Nobilite.1b While obviously impaired in their mission even to this day the Devotees still proselytize within Nobilite, and still finding new willing members.1c
Fulgrim the Water-Bringer was an ancient purple-hued God of Chemos and was the namesake of the Emperor's Children's Primarch, Fulgrim.1
History
He was part of Chemos' creation-myth and was said to have brought life to the barren world, after emerging from its primordial waters. Nothing had been able to grow there, but after Fulgrim's emergence, Chemos became a fertile paradise and the God was known as the Water-Bringer. Little else is known about Fulgrim, save that Chemos' pantheon of Gods would partake in sumptuous banquets of endless goblets of pure water and rich food.1

All this information came from an old and brittle chapbook, that was owned by the Callax factory worker Coryn, but it did not represent the Chemos he knew. The paradise shown in the chapbook was now a radioactive wasteland, where what water was available was pulled from the toxic atmosphere by machines and food was made from recycled waste. It is not known how well-known Fulgrim was known by then, but Coryn's fellow factory worker Ptolea did not believe did not believe the Gods shown in his chapbook were real. To her they were nothing but stories to tell children and it was a waste of time to think otherwise. However when they and the factory worker Sullax later discovered the crashed capsule of the infant Primarch of the Emperor's Children, water began to rise up from where it landed. This led Coryn to open his chapbook to a picture of Fulgrim bringing life to Chemos and he decided to name the Primarch after the God.1 However any knowledge of the Water-Bringer was likely lost, after Chemos was destroyed by the Dark Angels Legion, during the Horus Heresy.1

Neo-vellum was the only moon of the planet Vigilus.1b2

Overview
The moon is controlled by the Administratum and is (at least theoretically) neutral with regards to the politics of the planet it orbits.1b

Neo-vellum has many scriptorums whose purpose is to produce logistics reports. These are then placed in containers fitted with grav-chutes before being fired at the planet below, with the message's route to its intended recipient determined by a wondrous machine known as the Datasaint, capable of calculating the exact trajectory necessary for each message based on the relative positions of the moon and planet. However, the Datasaint is so old that many of its mechanisms have failed over time; as a result the majority of the messages never reach their destinations (and even then, the grav-chutes have been known to fail, resulting in terrible accidents - including at least one known fatality).1b This situation was not helped by the emergence of the Great Rift, further throwing its calculations off.2

The moon also used to host one of the main Astropathic choirs of the Vigilus System, known as the Lunar Choir. However, the opening of the Great Rift ravaged the Choralium and this led Imperial authorities to only attempt Astropathic communication in the most important of circumstances.1b

History
When the Vigilus System came under attack by Orks in the Age of the Dark Imperium, Neo-vellum was ignored by the invading greenskins; it is believed by Imperial authorities that this was due to both the moon's lack of opportunities for the orks to engage in a good fight, and the moon's position at the time of the invasion (it was on the other side of its parent planet when the orks arrived in orbit).1b

However, the moon was not left entirely unscathed in the conflict. As part of their plans for propagating across Vigilus, the Genestealer Cult of the Pauper Princes made measures to secretly seed Neo-vellum with splinter cults. Primus Ensrod Ghaul was able to smuggle a pair of Purestrain Genestealers onto Neo-vellum via the electro-freighter Zealous Blurt.1b Although the Purestrains and many of their slaves were purged by Inquisitor Garalas of Ordo Xenos and a Skitarii clade, the cults themselves remained active.1b2

The creeping threat of Genestealer Cultists staging an uprising was ultimately irrelevant, though. When the Voidclaw was activated, the gravitic anomalies it generated led to Neo-vellum being dragged out of its orbit towards the Vhulian Anomaly. The remaining inhabitants of the now-rogue moon started rioting, with the xenos-worshipping cultists merely adding the chaos that erupted.2

Geography
Neo-vellum is covered in acidic swamps and ravaged by emerald green gas storms.1b The swamps boiled away when the moon was pulled out of its orbit.2
