Essentially, it's a ghostly entity which can support it's faction e.g. Imp Guard may get the ghost of a martyr or Saint, Astartes may get the ghost of a chapter master, eldar may get an ancestor spirit from the Infinity Circuit etc. The current text on the article is a direct quote and doesn't include some of the examples given in WD.
