I've upped the talk about the PDF. I was reading the Codex for the Imperial Guard yesterday and was reminded of how vitally important the PDF are to the Imperium as a whole. Without the PDF, the Imperium itself would truly crumble. It sounds strange, but the few and proud Space Marines are too few in number to garrison controlled worlds. The Imperial Guard has to answer to the call of other planets in need, and without the PDF, undefended planets are just waiting to be invaded. Hence, the due respect for the PDF has been given here in a beefier article, complete with sources and notes to help both army developers and writers.

Also, I would like to note that the PDF, based on Imperial Guard models, is the most versatile army for anyone who wants to build an army. I mean it. It can be used for Imperial armies of course, be it allies of the Space Marines, under the control of Inquisitors, or likewise. Or, it can be used as brainwashed by Xeno taint, (Genestealers), corrupted by Chaos, mind wiped by the Eldar, the list goes on and on. Thus, the PDF can be a greatly story driven force. --Lygris 17:44, 12 September 2008 (CEST)
