We are beginning the process of slightly lightening the desktop wiki for 40K-english. Many of the dark template elements are jarring and difficult to read when used on the lighter mobile template, so we are lightening neutral colors by 30 points on the 256 RGB scale. This will take time, but is underway. The goal is to bring the desktop colors slightly closer to the colors of the mobile template which now represents over 50% of Lexicanum traffic. == DISCUSSION: Related Videos Section for Articles ==
As I have been looking across the other Games Workshop universe wikis and studying internet usage trends, the rise of video among readers (Particularly on mobile phones) is ever growing. Several other wikis will allow an embedded youtube video(or sever) to be attached to topic articles.
I want to bring this up as a topic of conversation. Some questions would be:
1) Can we physically get youtube video links to embed in mediawiki (we should try a test somewhere)
2) What would a "Lexicanum Approved source" be for video content? Games Workshop official videos only? Something else?
3) What should be the limit for how many videos we allow for a single article, 1, 2, more?
4) What is the proper formatting and syntax for crediting a video as a source?
5) What section titles, citations, templates, need to be created and documented for approved embedded videos?
Let's get some feedback from the admins and see what can come up with. This is issue that is only growing as the internet and mobile device use increases, and Lexicanum is currently behind the trend with zero use of video. My goal is to not to fill our wonderful archive with dubious quality video-drivel, but instead how to leverage the plethora of official manufacturer created content that will can increase the usefulness and popularity of the site.
