Vardas Ison as a Knights-Errant[4]

Vardas Ison[2] was a member of the Knights-Errant during the Horus Heresy.

History

He was a former Librarian of the Blood Angels and detested his Primarch, Sanguinius, though it was not explained why.[1] Ison kept his Legion's origin a secret, finding amusement in irritating Macer Varren by refusing to answer which he originated from[3c], though he had a ruby set on gold pinions as a keepsake of his abandoned legion.[3b].

Ison recruited Fyodor Stromgren to the Knights-Errant after he had been mutilated by the Night Lords[1], was dispatched to recover Nathaniel Garro and detain Euphrati Keeler[2] and fought alongside Varren, Nathaniel Garro, Tylos Rubio, and Helig Gallor against Chaos Cultists on Terra.[3d]

After the battle against the Lord of the Flies and his minions, Ison was among those chosen by Malcador to join his new order. Ison took on the title Satre, who would go on to become one of the original founding Grand Masters of the Grey Knights.[3b]

Wargear

As a Knight-Errant Ison's wargear included Mk VI armour bearing the mark of the Sigilite, a psychic hood and a bolt pistol that was described as the sole object he carries that has a splash of colour on it.[2] He was able to manifest red coloured psychic lightning.[3d]

Trivia

  • Satre was an Etruscan God associated with Saturn in Roman culture and Kronos in Greek culture.
