The Wolfspear are a Space Wolves Successor Chapter.[1]

Overview

The Wolfspear were created from Space Wolves members of the Unnumbered Sons, who survived the Battle of Raukos. That battle concluded the Indomitus Crusade and the Chapter was then charged by Lord Commander Guilliman, with guarding the Pit of Raukos from any future Chaos incursions. This was to the dismay of some members of the Wolfspear, who had hoped to continue fighting on the front-lines against the Imperium's enemies. Further clouding the minds of the Chapter, was that although the Space Wolves had allowed Primaris Space Marines into their ranks, it was not known if they would accept the Wolfspear as true Sons of Russ[1].

This was soon settled after the Primaris technology was brought to Fenris and the Space Wolves became aware of the Wolfspear. While the Chapter was initially formed as an under-strength, Fleet Based Chapter, the Space Wolves' Great Wolf Logan Grimnar, granted the Wolfspear additional warriors from their Founding Chapter. This forged enduring and unprecedented bonds of brotherhood between the two Chapters, and the Wolfspear gladly maintain many Fenrisian customs. They are proud inheritors of the genetic legacy of Leman Russ, but the Wolfspear have become one of the Ultima Founding's most unsettling Chapters. The Chapter has developed a brooding mien, that reveals a dark mindset and their grim brotherhood of dedicated hunters seldom laugh. In battle, the Wolfspear employ intimidating pack-hunting tactics which permeate every strategic strata of their doctrine. When unleashed against the Imperium's enemies, the Chapter uses precision strikes to sever their foes' avenues of escape and sow confusion. Static-laced howls fill enemy Vox-nets or echo within foes' skulls as the Chapter's Iron Priests and Rune Priests unleash tempests of terror. As their foes then desperately try to repulse attacks on multiple fronts, flinching at half-seen blurs, the Wolfspear will suddenly strike. At a single point from multiple directions, their packs attack and tear the throat from an enemy already in fear.[2]
