2nd Company (Scythes of the Emperor)
As a Codex Chapter of the Adeptus Astartes, the Second Company of the Scythes of the Emperor is one of the Chapter's Battle Companies.[1][2]
Notable Actions
During the Second Tyrannic War, Chapter Master Mansirius Thorcyra led a detachment of the Scythes, including Captain Agaitas and the Second Company, in an expedition to the Saphir Cluster to combat the tyranids of Hive Fleet Kraken. The mission was unsuccessful; worse, it drew away a sizeable portion of the Chapter's strength, allowing the tyranids to invade and ravage Sotha, the Scythes' homeworld.[3a]
The survivors, including Thorcyra and Agaitas, eventually made their way to the Chapter's muster point in the Miral System.[3a] There, the Second Company contributed to the defence of a Chapter outpost on Miral Prime known as the Giant's Coffin against another tyranid attack. The Company was almost entirely wiped out in a sortie against the Hive Ship Heloth, which had crash landed on Miral.[3b][4]
Following the Ultima Founding, the Scythes of the Emperor were rebuilt using Primaris Space Marine reinforcements.[5]
Heraldry
Each of the Scythes' Company Banners depicts a legendary horse from the tales told by the Chapter's founder, Oberdeii.[3c] The Second Company's standard displays the dark stallion Conabos.[4]
