The Admonition, also referred to as the Cult of Admonition[2], is a Chaos Cult found on Atoma Prime that is infesting Hive Tertium's lower and mid-levels[4a]. They work with the Moebian 6th in order to control or corrupt the Hive World. Being fanatical devotees of the Chaos God Nurgle, they brew and spread metaphysical poxes, plagues, and contagions throughout the Hive city, eventually turning many of the populous into poxwalkers.[2][4a] They have also made assaults on Atoma Prime's largest moon, Atrox, in order to corrupt or access the guarded vault filled with ancient heirlooms belonging to Tertium's ruling class.

The cult wears muted, yellow-green clothing, along with various rags, leathers, and unpainted metal plates.[10]

History

The cult's beginning are unknown, but they grew covertly, keen to remain hidden amongst the populous. Multiple cult cells would operate throughout the lower and mid-levels of the hive, passing messages to other cult cells through obscure symbols and markings. All while practicing dark rituals and harboring their twisted faith.[4a]

The cult allied itself with one of faction of the hive's Water Cartel, assisting them in culling rival cartel factions. The cartels once battled for control of the district's water recycling refineries, but it subsequently came under the control of just one faction, lead by a figure known as the Ragged King. All this went unnoticed by the hive's Enforcers, due to the Water Cartel paying off any law enforcement within their district ages ago. The cartel would become complacent and would be betrayed by the cult in a swift and brutal massacre. The citizens of this district initially viewed this change in power as positive. The Water Cartel were oppressive and uncaring rulers who let the hab blocks of the district fall into ruined slums. However, this minor uprising was only done in order to gain control of the hive's water supply so the cult could effectively spread disease and sickness throughout the hive. [5a][5b]

What began began as an uprising grew with the plague outbreak of unnatural pestilence. Several hive levels would be locked down and the initial quarantine would be enforced by the local Enforcers and PDF. In addition to this, troops scheduled for deployment to the frontlines of the Fringe War, the Moebian 6th Regiment, would be rerouted to assist in quelling of the growing Chaos threat on Atoma Prime. Once the Moebian Sixth were planetside and well positioned within the hive, they would reveal themselves as traitors and ally themselves with the cult they were sent to fight against.[4a][4b]

While the cult and Moebian 6th plunge the hive further into the early stages of Nurgle Chaos corruption[6a], an Inquisition warband arrives aboard a Rogue Trader vessel. Being dispatched a mysterious Inquisitor named Grendyl to address the threat.[1]

Current Day

The Cult of Admonition and the Moebian 6th work together throughout the war for Tertium to control and corrupt the hive. The means through which they corrupt the population and bolster their ranks includes the myriad of Nurglish pathogens,[7] subjugation,[9] and mind-altering radio-waves.[8]

The Torrent district controls the main water refineries for Hive Tertium and while within heretic hands it has been used to spread plague through the water supply. Many new pathogens are brewed atop the Hourglass's naval abandoned naval refueling docks, Excise Vault Spireside-13.[7] Other new strains appear unnaturally throughout the heavily corrupted and quarantined zone within the hive, such as Hab Block Laranax in Hab Dreyko.[8] Other forms of the blight are infused into stimms and disseminated through the populace that way.[9]

The heretics also seek to recruit the populace to the heretic cause on an unconscious level through the use of mind-altering carrier waves. These are being emitted from Comms-Plex, Inter-Orbital Data Relay Station TRS-150, high atop one of the Hourglass's many abandoned naval freight depots.[7]
