Aqhet Hakoris was a member of the Thousand Sons during the Great Crusade.[1] As a sergeant in the past, he was cured of the Flesh Change with the help of Magnus himself; upon Magnus's refusal to admit how, he began to delve into the Warp himself to understand the powers of it. Hakoris would also come to believe that the Warp had sentient beings within it, with whom one could communicate and make deals with.

Soon established as a powerful Psyker, Hakoris and his cabal of the Aquilae secretly dabbled in astral projection into the Warp in order to gleam the truth. Hakoris would later come into contact with a Daemon named Choronzon. During a symposia about recognizing the legitimacy of the Aquilae, Hakoris lied about this experience to Magnus- although the primarch saw through this lie due to his psychic powers. Magnus admitted to Hakoris in private that his knowledge to cure the Flesh Change came from such daemons, although none of his sons or even the Emperor had known due to Magnus lying.

The primarch thus encouraged Hakoris to continue the lie- that he had not spoken with daemons- for the remainder of the hearing. However, Hakoris ended up testifying on their existence throughout the Warp. This testimony doomed him and the Aquilae at the hearing, during which Magnus disbanded the Cult and scattered its members throughout the Legion. Hakoris was stripped of his rank and honours and doomed to eternal service as a Line Brother, but was ready to still prove his findings on the Warp.[1]
