Bahani was once an Imperial Industrial World, that was devoted to exporting its natural resources. However when those resources were eventually spent, the Imperium abandoned the world and most of its population.[1]

History

129 Tai D, as it is officially designated as, was a bountiful Ocean World when the Imperium began its colonizing efforts. The indentured population brought to do so, named the world Bahani, which meant blue, due to its oceans, soft winds and lands that were swelled with fruit and grain. In time, the Imperium would also call it that as well. The colonists that first arrived there, thought the world was a great reward from the Emperor and so willingly helped their Administratum masters turn Bahani into an Industrial World. This would have dire consequences for their descendants, as every industry on Bahani was devoted to extracting its raw materials for other worlds to consume. Its population of millions of indentured servants aided this, by working in the mega-processing plants their ancestors helped build. They also used Vapour-ships to evaporate the seawater of Bahani's oceans in order to collect the minerals it contained. This devastated their world and a millennia after first colonizing Bahani, its lands were ravaged, its oceans had been drained away and it developed dangerous harsh winds. The Imperium was also ultimately forced to begin importing food to Bahani, in order to keep its population fed.[1]

When Bahani's resources were finally spent, however, the Imperium decided to abandoned the world and cease importing food to it. The Imperial Navy later arrived with ships, that would evacuate Bahani's Administratum's officials and the equipment that had been used to destroy the world. This went peacefully at first, until Bahani's indentured servants learned that most of them would not be evacuated. Only a small amount were selected to serve the Administratum on other worlds, while the rest would be left without anyway to obtain food. This led to protests, fighting, and even assassinations, as order on Bahani broke down. The last evacuation, however, was able to proceed and several hundred of Bahani's indentured servants were aboard as well, after voluntarily choosing to serve aboard the orbiting Navy warships. While this would place them in the dangerous lower decks, where fatality rates were high, but it was a better chance of survival than to remain on their Homeworld. The evacuation fleet then departed Bahani and left its population of millions to slowly starve to death.[1]
