Barcelia Mung was a wealthy, daring and ruthless Imperial explorer, who was an expert in the Aeldari language. Her wealth allowed Mung to have an army of acolytes, Mercenaries and Xenos experts who worked for her.[1a]

History

She came from a large wealthy family of Xenosavants, explorers, Xenolinguists and adventures who worked for numerous Inquisitors and Rogue Traders. Because of this, Mung possessed the confidence of someone born to riches and was willing to undertake almost any action she needed to succeed. Her career led Mung to see much of the galaxy's horrors and drew the attention of Inquisitor Athocles Van Roth in M42. Due to her knowledge of the Aeldari and her military capability, the Inquisitor sought her aid, as he would travel to the Maiden World Veloria. Once there, he would attempt to master using the Baddkrasha's Crown Xenos device on the Ork and Tyranid infested world. Von Roth knew Mung would not be able to resist visiting a Maiden World and proven correct when she agreed to join him. She then combined her army[1a], and her warship Skolaros Exemplarum[1b], with the Inquisitor's forces, which would defend him as he experimented with the Crown.[1a]

However disaster struck, when a large number of Ork warships, suddenly appeared in Veloria's orbit. With their fleet being forced to withdraw from the Maiden World, the Inquisitor's forces were left stranded. Only too late, did Van Roth realize, that Baddkrasha's Crown drew Orks to it, every time it was used. However Van Roth then came up with a plan that would use the Crown to draw the newly arrived Orks into the Tyranids on Veloria. Once this was done, Van Roth would destroy a wrecked Eldar Haven Spire, that lay near their camp. The Space Station's destruction, would then block the only entrance to Van Roth's camp and give them time to be evacuated. Mung and the Watch Captain Daox Glykas were among those who had concerns about the plan, due to how it could fail in countless ways. They even argued for leaving the Crown behind, so they could escape, but Van Roth refused to do so. In the end, though, both were convinced to follow Van Roth's plan. It hit a snag, though, when Van Roth learned how confusing the layout of the Haven Spire could be. This required him to make an alliance with a number of Eldar, who still lived within the Haven Spire. In return for evacuating them as well from Veloria, the Eldar would lead them activate the Haven Spire's self destruct sequence.[1a]

Mung was among her army that entered the Haven Spire, alongside the Eldar and the forces of Inquisitor Van Roth and Watch Captain Glykas. They then separated into groups in order to better increase their chances, as the Haven Spire was infested with Tyranids. Meanwhile a portion of Glykas' Watch Company, carried Baddkrasha's Crown to draw the approaching Orks into the nearby Tyranid swarms. Only Van Roth's group was able to reach and activate the Haven Spire's self-destruct sequence, though. While Mung's group had reached it earlier, they were all killed by the Tyranids before they could begin the sequence. Even with Van Roth's success, however, the Inquisitor discovered that the Orks had already overrun his camp. With his fleet also being destroyed by the Xenos, Van Roth knew that none of his forces would be able to escape.[1a]
