The Battle of Lagros was a battle waged by the Salamanders during the Noctis Aeterna.[1]

Overview

As the Great Rift formed, the worlds of the Lagros System fell into anarchy as madness swept the planet. Worse still, the Rage Legion under the Bloodthirster Khaz'khul arrived and vowed to slay every living thing in the System. The Daemons massacred their way across Hive Cities, swashing them with blood. The brave PDF held out in pockets, but were soon swept aside by the Daemonic assault. As the Astropath's of Lagros' capital of Saint Eghan's Mount transmitted a distress call, they were hacked apart by Khaz'khul and his Flesh Hounds. The Salamanders heard the plea and soon arrived in force under Chapter Master Tu'Shan himself.[1]

As the Salamanders ships approached Lagros, several of its Librarians and Navigators died screaming. They lost several ships, but were ultimately able to arrive in System. Tu'Shan led the assault on the overrun worlds of Lagros, deploying alongside a mixed force of multiple Companies. Tu'Shan's masterful strategems saw the Salamanders victorious in dozens of engagements across the System. The Salamanders even fought brass-armored Daemons in the launch bays of their own ships, after Khaz'khul sent one of his eight cohorts to materialize in orbit. In each engagement, Tu'Shan's forces suffered serious losses but was able to link up with the remaining PDF's to reinforce themselves. Upon the upper levels of Hive Rhene, blood factories built from the gore-stained bones of its victims were finally demolished. The Salamanders used waves of Repulsor gravitic tanks to ram their way through the grisly walls, followed by massed Aggressor Squads whose Flame Gauntlets cleansed every surface with purifying fire. The factories’ foul production ceased, though the Salamanders were too late to save the untold thousands already rendered down.[1]

With their grip on realspace failing, the Daemons began to melt into nothing as they snarled curses and defiance at the Salamanders. Soon Khaz'khul himself remained, but he was eventually slain by Tu'Shan and a retinue of Librarians and Firedrakes.[1]
