Belecane[1a][2] also known as Belacane[3][4] is considered to be one of the more conventional Forge Worlds of the Calixis Sector. It is also an ancient and formerly highly influential Hive World, the Techmage Lords of Belecane have, in recent centuries, lost much of their influence within the Adeptus Mechanicus.[4] Unique ancient and barely understood technology of stasis weapons is considered commonplace amongst its population, to the point when young adepts know more about it than the most senior Tech-Priest can elsewhere.[1a] Although their prime in this specialization is now considered to have waned, seemingly dedicated to only hoarding its technologies and jealously guarding its sacred wisdom.[4] The planet is also long well associated with the construction of protective barriers, void shields and Gellar fields.[2] The planet holds also a service of storing items in its stasis vaults for anyone willing to save them from the trepidations of time.[3]

Planetary Data

  • Years and Days: Belecane takes 408 Terran days to orbit its star and spins on its axis once every 30 Terran hours[4]
  • Gravity: 1.2G[4]
  • Mean Surface Temperature: -40°C[4]
  • Satellites: No natural moons, but the planet maintains a vast starship repair complex in low orbit, together with a series of defensive weapons platforms.[4]
  • Equatorial Circumference: 18,000 Miles[4]
  • Principal Exports: Belecane once was a fabulously wealthy forge world which produced virtually the entire Imperial stock of stasis fields, stasis projectors and stasis grenades.[4] Amongs its signatures exports were Belecane-pattern Stasis Grenades, and Belecane-pattern Stasis Mines.[1b] However, the supply of these items has dried up over the past 500 years, and many whispers that Belecane now lacks the means to produce them.[4] The planet is now long well associated with the construction of protective barriers, void shields and Gellar fields. An infamous product of the Belecane Forge World is Belecane-pattern 90.r Gellar Field, that although offering enhanced warp-handling capabilities, is prone to short bursts of flickering failures.[2] It also produces large numbers of weapons, with a particular emphasis on large scale defence lasers for the Imperial Navy.[4]
  • Principal Imports: Foodstuffs and some rare minerals.[4]
  • Contact with other worlds: Belecane is in the Markayn Marches and is relatively close to such planets as Karrik and Prol IX.[4]
