Benediction, originally known as Talledus[1b] is an Imperial Shrine World. It serves as the capital world of the Veritus Sub-Sector under the lordship of Cardinal Morst Bolifax.[1a]

History

Talledus suffered greatly after the worlds Governor Hectus Carmine spoke out against Goge Vandire during the Age of Apostasy. This set off a vicious battle between the System's Imperial Guard defenders and Vandire's Frateris Templar during which Carmine was burnt at the stake and much of the System was purged. In the aftermath of the slaughter the new Ecclesiarch Sebastian Thor ventured to Talledus and declared a grant rebuilding that would see it reshaped into a massive Shrine World covered in temple-shrines that house thousands of Imperial Saints. The planet itself was heavily defended by Sisters of Battle from the Order of Our Martyred Lady as well as two crack Regiments of the Imperial Guard.[1a]

During the Talledus War Benediction was the site of a massive Word Bearers invasion led by Kor Phaeron himself. The Chaos forces have managed to capture most of the world save the Grand Honorificum, which remains in Imperial hands due to the efforts of the Sisters of Battle, Imperial Guard, and Salamanders.[1b]

Notable Locations

  • Grand Honorificum - man-made island and central domed temple-city of the world. Heavily protected by Void Shielding and heavy guns.[1b]
    • Sanctum Solaris - central hub of the Grand Honorificum.[1b]
  • River Carmine - River in which the Grand Honorificum lies. Four great bridges span this waterway.[1b]
