Lord Brêac[1d]

Brêac[1a] is the Primaris[1b] Lord of the Emperor's Spears Chapter's 3rd Warhost[1a] and commands the Strike Cruiser, Hex[1b].

History

Breac hails from Nemeton's Vargantes Tribe.[1a] Since the creation of the Great Rift, Brêac and his Chapter have been among the Imperial forces defending the worlds of Elara's Veil, from an invasion by the countless numbers of the Exilarchy. A century after the invasion began, the Third Warhost was present on their Homeworld, Nemeton, when the Mentors warship In Devout Abjuration arrived unexpectedly in their System. Brêac would then meet with Lieutenant Commander Amadeus Kaias Incarius, who was sent by the Mentors' Chapter Master, Nisk Ran-Thawll, to act as an emissary and observer to the Veil's home Chapters. It soon became obvious to Brêac, though, that Incarius had been sent to monitor the Spears and their Celestial Lions allies, to make sure they were still loyal to the Imperium. His annoyance then grew, when he learned that inexplicably, the Lieutenant Commander was the only Space Marine that was sent to cross through the Straits of Epona; which since the opening of the Great Rift, was the only way to enter the now isolated Veil.

This left the outnumbered Imperial forces within it, to solely defend the Veil against the Exilarchy horde, which led the Spears to desperately send several warships into the Straits, requesting aid from the Imperium. None had returned, nor had there been any sign of reinforcements, until the In Devout Abjuration had arrived. Incarius would then confirm to Brêac, that he knew of no records of the Spears' warships having made contact with the Imperium, which had been completely unaware that the Veil had been invaded. This, plus the Mentors wearing the colors of the Star Scorpions, the Spears' now lost Brother Chapter, instantly caused Brêac to gravely dislike Incarius[1a]. Nevertheless, the Lieutenant Commander would gain the Spears' approval to accompany Brêac aboard the Hex, as the Third Warhost left Nemeton to continue the battle against the Exilarchy.[1c]

Brêac survived the boarding of the Hex by the Exilarchy vessel Venatrix Candidus, though the ship was badly damaged. He coordinated a months-long chase against the Venatrix with the Celestial Lions vessel Blade of the Seventh Son. They eventually succeeded in boarding the vessel and liberating Amadeus as well as his Chapter Serf Anuradha Daaz.[1e]

Brêac was later on the bridge of the Hex during a conclave held by Celestial Lions Chapter Master Ekene Dubaku, witnessing the Lord die at the hands of a Callidus Assassin. In the final stage of the chase against the assassin, Amadeus and Breac both arrived to finish off the murderer after it had been cornered by Anuradha. Breac threw his spear into the assassin as it was dragged into the Warp by a Vortex Grenade.[1f]
