General Structure

Codex: Sisters of Battle (5th Edition) was released as a two-part White Dwarf Codex in White Dwarf 380 (US), released in August 2011, and White Dwarf 381 (US), released in September 2011. An official note declares it Chapter Approved as an official Codex for Warhammer 40000, and that it replaces Codex: Witch Hunters (3rd Edition)[1a]. This codex contains a brief history of the Adepta Sororitas as well as the army list and all the rules necessary to field an army of the Sisters of Battle.

Part One

Released in August 2011 in White Dwarf 380 (US), the first part contains the army's background, army rules, and unit descriptions.

Part Two

Released in September 2011 in White Dwarf 381 (US), the second part contains the Army List, Wargear, and point costs. This issue also contains a battle report featuring the Sisters of Battle under the new rules versus the Tyranids.

Notable Changes

The codex notably removed all elements of the Inquisition found in the previous codex, which are now exclusively found in Codex: Grey Knights (5th Edition), leaving only the elements of the Sisters of Battle and the Ecclesiarchy. Confessors and their enclaves were added to the codex. Uriah Jacobus and Kyrinov return as special characters from Codex: Sisters of Battle (2nd Edition). The army's Acts of Faith was also completely revised from the previous version.
