Cortamus was a member of the Imperial Fists Legion, who took part in the Horus Heresy's Siege of Terra.[1b]

History

He would be among the Imperial forces that were outside of the Imperial Palace's Eternity Gate, when it was closed near the end of the Siege. Afterwards, Cortamus was among the Imperial forces that rallied under the leadership of the Imperial Fists Commander Archamus II[1b]. This allied force would fight many battles against the Traitor hordes, which included the defense of the Imperial Palace's Delphine Viaduct[1a]. Cortamus would be among the Imperial Fists assigned to Captain Fafnir Rann[1b] and together with portions of the Blood Angels and White Scars, they were sent to defend the causeway below the Viaduct.[1a]

In the battle that followed, the Traitors swarmed Rann's position and the Imperial Fists Captain Fisk Halen was nearly slain by the Word Bearer Sor Talgron. Rann intervened to save Fisk's life, but was then nearly overwhelmed by Talgron himself. This led Cortamus and the Imperial Fist Bedwyr, to come to Rann's aid and the three then attacked the Word Bearer together. However Cortamus quickly died, due to either being too eager or too brave, while fighting Talgron and collapsed after the Imperial Fist's head was crushed into his body by the Word Bearer's Infernal Crozius.[1b]
